Dimple Creation Surgery
Dimples are a desired facial feature present in some individuals naturally. A natural dimple is usually formed when there is a small defect in the cheek musculature (most often the buccinator muscle).
The skin overlying this small defect is stuck down to the underlying connective tissue and creates a dimple in the skin with facial animation (smiling). Dimple creation surgery can simulate this naturally occurring process.
Dimple creation surgery can be done on any type or size cheek, although some cheeks are probably better candidates than others. You can decide where the dimples will be. It is done under local anesthesia and takes 30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions
What is a dimpleplasty?
A dimpleplasty is a type of plastic surgery used to create dimples on the cheeks. Dimples are the indentations that occur when some people smile. They’re most often located on the bottoms of the cheeks. Some people may also have chin dimples.
- It is a simple procedure and can be completed as an outpatient procedure in less time with minimum discomforts.
- It can impart a bold and attractive facial esthetics.
Recovery from dimpleplasty is relatively straightforward. You don’t need to stay in the hospital. In fact, you can usually go home immediately after the surgery. Soon after the procedure, you might experience mild swelling. You can apply cold packs to reduce swelling, but it will usually go away on its own within a few days.
Most people can return to work, school, and other regular activities two days after having a dimpleplasty. Your surgeon will likely want to see you a couple of weeks after the procedure to assess the results.
Dimple creation procedure is not an exact science. It is not possible to predict accurately the depth, size and shape of the dimples. However, majority of our patients are satisfied with the results.
